Job Description :
Pay Range: $23hr - $26hr
- The Paralegal will support public records and legal operations by reviewing and responding to FOIL requests, conducting legal research, drafting responses, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.
- This role requires strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills to manage document review processes and ensure compliance with records retention and disclosure requirements.
- Bachelor s degree.
- Minimum of four years of paralegal or legal assistant experience.
- Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to organize and analyze large volumes of documents and information.
- Ability to perform administrative duties including scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and responding to communications.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in online legal research tools and Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience using collaboration tools such as Teams and Zoom.
- Review FOIL requests and ascertain the existence of requested public records.
- Review records for responsiveness and propose appropriate red actions of confidential information.
- Draft responses to FOIL requests.
- Monitor and update tracking systems as needed.
- Conduct legal research and analysis.
- Collaborate with University staff regarding records retention and disposition matters.
- Liaise with internal offices and legal affairs representatives as required.
- Perform administrative duties including scheduling meetings and conferences.
- Experience supporting FOIL or document review in a college, in-house legal department, law firm, government agency, or non-profit organization.
- Paralegal certification.
- Proactive and collaborative work style.
- Strong project management skills to coordinate complex legal processes and activities.
- Bachelor s degree required.
- Paralegal certification preferred.
