Job Description
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Civil Inspector to support roadway and infrastructure projects. This role includes performing inspections of concrete, asphalt, utilities, and maintenance of traffic (MOT), with a strong focus on client coordination and safety compliance. The ideal candidate will have prior experience with DOT or DDC projects and possess excellent communication and technical inspection skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field inspections on roadway projects, including concrete, asphalt, utilities, and MOT.
- Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, drawings, and industry standards.
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with contractors, client representatives (PAPD, PA Operations), and project teams.
- Perform site walkthroughs and prepare detailed inspection reports documenting progress, quality, and issues.
- Enforce strict adherence to safety standards, identifying and reporting hazards such as defects, debris, signage, or pathway obstructions.
- Participate in client meetings and provide regular updates on site conditions and progress.
- Collaborate closely with Port Authority (PA) representatives on-site, including Lincoln Tunnel operations.
- Perform additional duties as required to support successful project delivery.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (degree in Engineering or Construction-related field preferred).
- Prior experience with DOT or DDC projects.
- 3-5 years of civil inspection experience in roadway, concrete, asphalt, and utility projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction practices, industry standards, and safety regulations.
- Experience working directly with clients and public agencies (e.g., PAPD, PA Operations).
- Excellent attention to detail with strong documentation and reporting skills.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining professionalism under pressure.
