Construction Project Manager - Transit Infrastructure

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager with a strong background in transit, rail, or transportation infrastructure to oversee complex field operations and project delivery for major public-sector construction projects. The ideal candidate brings hands‑on experience working for a general contractor and understands the unique demands of transit environments, including coordination with agencies, strict safety protocols, and multi‑disciplinary trade management.

This is a high‑visibility role for someone who thrives in fast‑paced, schedule‑driven environments and can lead teams through planning, execution, and closeout with precision.

Key Responsibilities

+ Manage day‑to‑day construction activities across civil, structural, and transit‑related scopes.

+ Lead project planning, scheduling, procurement, and subcontractor coordination.

+ Oversee field operations to ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with contract documents.

+ Interface with transit agencies, inspectors, engineers, and third‑party stakeholders.

+ Review drawings, specifications, and submittals to ensure constructability and alignment with project requirements.

+ Track project progress, cost performance, and schedule milestones; prepare regular reporting for leadership.

+ Manage RFIs, change orders, punch lists, and project documentation.

+ Conduct site walks to monitor quality, safety, and productivity.

+ Support risk mitigation strategies and resolve field issues proactively.

+ Ensure strict adherence to safety standards, especially within active transit environments.

Required Skills & Experience

+ 7-12 years of construction project management experience with a general contractor.

+ Strong background in transit, rail, transportation, or heavy civil projects.

+ Proven ability to manage subcontractors, schedules, budgets, and field operations.

+ Experience working on public agency projects (MTA, DOT, Amtrak, etc.) is highly preferred.

+ Strong understanding of construction sequencing, safety protocols, and quality control.

+ Excellent communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.

+ Proficiency with project management software (Procore, Primavera P6, Bluebeam, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications

+ Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.

+ PMP, CMIT, OSHA 30, or similar certifications.

+ Experience managing work in active transit or rail corridors.

Pay and Benefits
