Residing within the Retail & Merchandising team of The New School, the Senior Student Graphic Design Assistant is responsible for assisting in promotional design needs for marketing, merchandise creation and more. The role will report to the Associate Director.

This 14 week opportunity supports several retail & merchandising initiatives including original design work for The New Store, the university's official on-campus and online retail outlet. The university's approach to design, sustainability, collaboration, and management inspires the way we source products, create partnerships, run operations, and create messaging. Our branded product lines are ethically sourced, accessible, embrace individuality, and celebrate our New School pride and legacy.

This is a semester based Internship opportunity, for approximately 8-10 hours/week.

Role & Responsibilities:

* Edit, create, and/or maintain graphic design content for branded communications and marketing tools, ex. Social media

* Collaborate with the store team to plan and generate designs for use on merchandise

* Perform photo editing for websites & other print materials.

* Adhere to brand guidelines and complete projects according to deadline.

* Use graphic design software independently to complete design assignments

* Receive feedback and make needed adjustments to designs

* Assist with organization and digital management of resources

Work Mode:
Hybrid

Hourly Rate: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour, hourly commensurate with experience

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualifications:

* Basic knowledge of layouts and typography

* Strong creative skills

* Portfolio of graphic design work

* Must be proactive, self-directed, and organized

* Ability to communicate and adhere to deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience with InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, and Illustrator

* Experience with Tiktok, Instagram
