Position: Supervising Producer, Decoder, The Verge
The Verge is seeking an ambitious and aggressive Supervising Producer to lead and elevate our long-running tech business show Decoder. This is a full-time, hybrid, production and management role based out of the Vox Media offices in New York City. It reports to our Editorial Director of Audio/Video.

The ideal candidate is an experienced video leader and creative storyteller with deep knowledge of, and passion for, Decoder's coverage areas of business, entrepreneurship, and public policy as they intersect with tech. They will directly manage a team of staff producers and editors, plus freelance talent, in creating multi-platform, multi-format content across our video, audio, and social channels, plus adjacent special projects and sponsorship opportunities.

The Supervising Producer will help direct and carry out Decoder's larger programing strategy, consistently elevating the show's voice, reach, and visual aesthetic while managing deliverables and deadlines. We're looking for an ambitious and aggressive leader who can juggle multiple projects in various production stages while kick-starting new ones in a fast-paced environment.

WHO WE ARE

The Verge is an ambitious multimedia effort founded in 2011 to examine how technology will change life in the future for a massive mainstream audience.

The Verge is part of Vox Media, the leading modern media company. We guide our audience from discovery to obsession. We inspire essential conversations about what's now, what's next, and what's possible.

As a community of journalists and storytellers, business professionals, creators and technologists, we believe it is a moral and business imperative to amplify voices: to cultivate diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout our organization and media. This applies to our candidates, our teams, our storytelling, our creative work, and our platforms, products, and partnerships.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

* Develop and execute overall show strategy - including creative, publishing, and social - to drive massive audience growth

* Own all show operations and communications, including team bandwidth, budgeting, and resource allocation

* Work with talent to sharpen editorial POVs and on-camera presence

* Partner with Senior Producers on guest booking, with an eye toward securing high-tier talent

* Manage a team of experienced producers, directors, and other craftspeople - including career pathing, performance feedback, project feedback, and development support

* Provide creative direction and feedback across both audio and video projects

* Partner with our Net Dev team to oversee development and production of special projects and editorial sponsor ships, including live events

* Partner with our Publishing & Audience Lead to ensure publishing deadlines, optimize content for social platforms, and quickly shift publishing priorities based on audience analytics and breaking news

* Step into production pipeline as needed - directing story angles, planning records, liaising with guests, and supervising and executing edits

* Help define and maintain The Verge's industry-leading video style and editorial voice, allowing for consistent, repeatable output

WHO YOU ARE

* You have an ambitious and aggressive POV on driving show quality and growth. Editorially, you don't shy away from conflict. Operationally, you are ruthless in driving reach, growth, and results. This assertive mindset cannot be overstated and is the #1 quality we are looking for

* You have full-stack production pipeline experience for both audio (podcasts) and video (You Tube or broadcast) - from development through pre-production, post-production, packaging and publishing - and are able to flex into any aspect of production at a moment's notice

* You have expert-level experience with Adobe Creative Suite - equally comfortable tweaking edits in Premiere as making thumbnails in Photoshop

* You have sharp journalistic storytelling skills and experience producing across multiple formats (i.e. short-form, mid-form, and long-form audio and video)

* You have a passion for and knowledge of Decoder's coverage areas of business, entrepreneurship, and public policy as they intersect with tech - including key players and companies, both past and present

* You are relentless in growing your personal rolodex in our coverage areas and enjoy regularly networking with news makers to secure high-profile guests

* You are a savvy internet operator, conversant in the latest trends, methods, and growth hacks to build an attention engine for the show

* You show excellent judgement when making creative and operational decisions, with an eye towards balanced distribution of limited resources across all team priorities

* You can effectively delegate decisions to other team members, follow up, and hold them accountable for execution

* You are skilled in the art of giving and receiving direct feedback, striking a balance between producers' creative autonomy and greater brand necessities
