- All internship positions are onsite.
- Our student internships offer a competitive hourly rate of $17.00, requiring a minimum commitment of 18 hours weekly. Our summer internship program runs from:
May through August.
- Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution throughout the internship.
- Current class standing of rising junior or above.
- Applicants should demonstrate relevant competencies and capabilities aligned with the role.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship by SNY.

The Tech Ops Internship is intended to provide an undergraduate level student hands-on experience in multi-platform technical areas of Broadcast Operations. The candidate will be assisting the Director of Studio Production and Tech Managers as well as Technicians in the daily operations of the studio/control room environments.
Responsibilities
Assist in accomplishing the responsibilities of "on-air" technical operations
Observe and learn specific duties connected to various types of equipment systems
Shadow staff and freelance employees as they operate those various systems
Learn to support and perform other daily related duties at SNY as needed
Desired Competencies
Demonstrating composure in challenging situations and excelling in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment would be a valuable asset
(The ability to remain calm under pressure and even thrive in an environment that is high energy and often changing would be of significant benefit.)
Qualifications
Preferably pursuing a bachelor's degree majoring in Media or Television Production
College level production courses utilizing :
Video switchers, audio consoles, digital playback systems as well as pedestal camera use and understanding shot composition is a must
Self-motivated individual with a passion for broadcasting, who is capable of multitasking and functioning in a fast-paced, high volume environment
Solid verbal communication skills
Strong aptitude and hands-on experience in broadcast equipment systems and problem-solving
Desire to learn new digital technologies
Experience with non-linear newsroom systems (EMPS/iNews) a plus
Location & Time Commitment
This role is onsite at ourNew York City, NY office, requiring a commitment of a minimum of 18 hours weekly or 3 days per week.
