Duties Description Based in the SUNY Welcome Center, the Admissions Advisor for FAFSA Completion serves as a key resource and consultant in supporting students, families, school counselors, and educational partners in understanding and navigating financial aid opportunities. Reporting to the Director of College Advising and FAFSA Completion Implementation, this position plays a critical role in executing the Universal FAFSA Completion initiative by providing comprehensive financial aid information, conducting educational presentations, and ensuring students, families, and counselors have the information they need to understand their eligibility and for federal, state, and institutional aid programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Educational Outreach and Presentations:

* Provide comprehensive financial aid information to prospective and current SUNY students and their families regarding financial aid, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and New York State financial aid applications.

* Develop and deliver engaging presentations (both in-person and virtually) on financial aid topics, FAFSA completion, and affordability resources for students, families, school counselors, and community-based organizations.

* Collaborate with school counselors, college advisors, and other educational professionals to enhance financial aid awareness and completion rates

* Represent the SUNY Welcome Center at college fairs, community events, and educational conferences.

* Connect students to appropriate campus-based financial aid offices for specific appeals, dependency override requests, and special circumstance reviews.

Professional Development and

Collaboration:

* Stay current with federal, state, and institutional financial aid regulations, policies, and procedures

* Partner with SUNY campus financial aid offices to ensure consistent and accurate information delivery

* Work closely with the Director of College Advising and FAFSA Completion Implementation to support strategic initiatives

* Track state and city FAFSA completion metrics in support of the Universal FAFSA Completion initiative

* Report on families, students, and counselors supported, monitoring trends in financial aid application and completion to identify areas for improvement using Slate

* Utilize SUNY systems and platforms to access information and provide targeted consultation

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree required

* Exceptional written and oral communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial aid concepts in accessible terms

* Highly engaging, proficient public presenter with experience delivering information to diverse audiences

* Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, manage deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision

* Proficiency with technology, databases, and digital platforms for student information management
