Schools in the Archdiocese of New York contract with the NYC Public Schools to offer PreK For All and 3K For All in over 30 schools in the Bronx, and Staten Island. Our goal is to provide a developmentally appropriate program where children will enjoy a variety of planned experiences anchored in a playful approach to focused learning. We believe that our programs will provide the best foundation for future learning for the young children and families we serve.
Programs are located in elementary school buildings as part of the greater school community. We are committed to offering a safe, structured, and personalized learning environment for all of the students entrusted to our care.
The Early Childhood Instructional Specialists collaborate with school building and regional leaders, teachers, the team of Early Childhood Social Workers, and the NYC Department of Education's Division of Early Childhood to provide the highest quality of early childhood programming to New York City's youngest learners. The Office of Early Childhood is passionate about supporting leaders and teachers to make a lasting impact on the children and families that we serve.
Early Childhood Instructional Specialists are self-starters, problem-solvers, and effective communicators who have a broad and deep knowledge of early childhood learning and development as well as a talent for building strong relationships with families and the community.
To join our team, you should have:
* A vision for high-quality instruction in early childhood classrooms
* Experience coaching, and/or providing professional development to adults in an educational setting
* Awareness of current trends and innovations in Early Childhood Education
* Experience in successfully implementing all components of a high-quality prekindergarten program
* Familiarity with the NYC Public Schools (NYCPS) Pre-K for All (PKFA) and 3K for All (3
KFA) policies and procedures
* A history of successfully working in an inclusive and diverse work environment
* An understanding of the NYS Prekindergarten Learning Standards
* A working knowledge of early childhood developmental screening tools and assessments
* Experience with Creative Curriculum and CLASS
Our team members must have:
* Master's in Early Childhood Education, and/or Early Childhood Special Education
* * New York State Teaching Certification in Early Childhood (Birth-2)
* out-of-state certification accepted
* Minimum of five years of previous Early Childhood teaching experience
* Ability to travel independently to schools and offices within the Archdiocesan regionof the Bronx
* Compliance with NYC DOH Article 43 training and medical documentation
* Referral from a current supervisor
12-month position. Salary Range $76,000 - $82,000.
A comprehensive benefits package is included for FT (12 month) positions. PT (school year) options with prorated salary may be considered.
