The Assistant Program Director (APD) for the College of Health Professions (CHP) Scholars Program supports the successful implementation of this 5-year, grant-funded initiative under the CHP Pathways to Practice Initiative (CPPI), funded by the New York State Department of Health. The CHP Scholars Program is designed to strengthen the healthcare workforce by promoting student success and expanding opportunities for underrepresented students pursuing healthcare degrees across the university.

The APD provides high-touch academic and programmatic support for CHP Scholars, collaborating closely with students' academic advisors, faculty, program directors, and the Program Operations Director. This role also oversees the peer leadership component, supports student engagement and development, and assists in data collection and reporting for grant compliance.

Position Duties

* Serve as a primary point of contact and support for CHP Scholars across programs and campuses.

* Collaborate with academic advisors and program directors to monitor academic progress and provide proactive outreach to at-risk students.

* Plan, coordinate, and facilitate workshops, community-building events, and professional development opportunities.

* Recruit, hire, train, and supervise peer leaders who provide academic and social support for CHP Scholars.

* Maintain student participation and progress tracking to support grant reporting and program evaluation.

* Develop and distribute program communications, newsletters, and event materials.

* Work closely with the Program Operations Director to align programming with CPPI goals and timelines.

* Participate in departmental and university-wide initiatives that promote retention, belonging, and academic success.

* Performs other such duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Position Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree required;
Master's degree preferred in education, public health, psychology, or a related field.

* Minimum of two years of experience in higher education, student success, or academic support programming.

* Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
