Duties and responsibilities
Under the supervision of the aros programme coordinator and relevant programme staff, the intern will support programme management, coordination and capacity development functions, including:
• assisting with the preparation, editing, and formatting of programme documentation, including concept notes, agendas, reports, presentations, and briefing materials.
• supporting the coordination of meetings, training activities, and events, including logistical arrangements and follow-up actions.
• assisting with data collection, basic analysis, and visualization related to programme activities and outputs.
• supporting monitoring and reporting efforts by maintaining tracking tools, timelines, and activity records.
• conducting background research on thematic areas relevant to the aros programme, including emerging trends related to autonomous and remotely operated systems.
• providing technical outputs during the development of knowledge products and thematic materials, including training courses or publications on unmanned aircraft systems (uas), unmanned surface systems (uss), unmanned underwater systems (uus), and their respective countermeasures.
• providing general administrative and coordination support to the programme team, as required.
Qualifications/special skills
A university degree with specialization in international relations, national security or defence studies, project or programme management, geospatial science, engineering, imagery analysis, remote sensing, or a closely related discipline is considered an asset. Applicants to the un internship programme are not required to have professional work. Experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.
Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), master's or ph.d. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a bachelor's, master's or ph.d. Programme. Do you meet any of the above criteria? If yes, please indicate which one and attach proof to the application. Please note that you will have to provide an official certificate at a later stage.
Languages
English and french are the working languages of the united nations secretariat. For this internship position, full fluency in oral and written english is required. Level of proficiency in english may be subject to testing during the recruitment process. Knowledge of another un language is desirable.

For internships outside the united states, interns who are not citizens of the country, permanent residents, or not currently in the country's nonimmigrant visa status will be required to obtain a valid visa and work permit, allowing them to undertake the internship.
The united nations must ensure all applicants for an internship, regardless of citizenship or national origin, are authorized to work from the country where the internship will be undertaken either remotely, hybrid or on the un-premise duty station.
