Location: New York
We are seeking a Data Communications Project Specialist to support critical capital infrastructure projects for a major public transportation agency. This position focuses on data communications and low-voltage communication systems rather than traditional telecom services. The role combines project coordination, field oversight, and technical support to ensure communication systems are successfully installed, tested, and delivered.
- Review construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Coordinate and oversee contractors performing communications system installations.
- Monitor project schedules, budgets, and progress to ensure milestones are achieved.
- Resolve field issues involving construction conflicts, design discrepancies, and installation challenges.
- Serve as the liaison between contractors, designers, engineering teams, maintenance groups, and project stakeholders.
- Conduct field inspections and identify deficiencies requiring corrective action.
- Prepare daily reports, punch lists, and project documentation.
- Coordinate pre-final and final project inspections.
- Develop cost estimates and assist with scope changes and change order management.
- Coordinate General Orders and required transit services to support construction activities.
- Ensure work complies with engineering standards, safety requirements, and project specifications.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Data Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline; or
- Associate's degree in a related field with at least two years of relevant experience.
- Three or more years of experience managing or coordinating engineering, construction, telecommunications, or infrastructure projects.
- Experience overseeing contractors and coordinating multiple project stakeholders.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and construction documentation.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must have a valid OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification prior to starting field work and maintain it throughout the assignment.
Experience supporting the deployment or implementation of communications and data network systems such as:
- CCTV
- Data communications networks
- Public Address/Customer Information Systems (PA/CIS)
- Physical Security LAN (PSLAN)
- Electronic Access Control Systems
- Video Management Systems (VMS)
- Physical Security Information Systems (PSIM)
- Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
- Experience with transportation, infrastructure, or public-sector capital projects.
- Knowledge of engineering design and construction processes.

Pay Range: $45.00- $50.00per hour (Depending on experience and qualifications)
