Resident Engineer
Mott Mac Donald is looking for professionals to join our ever-expanding transportation team here in the New York City Metro Area. We are currently looking for a resident engineer with construction experience in the New York City Metro Area within the rail transportation (NYCT, MNR, LIRR, PATH, Amtrak, NJ Transit) and infrastructure industry. The successful candidate is required to have a good understanding of the construction industry in the New York City Metro Area and experience working on public agency projects.
Responsibilities
- The successful candidate will have a proven record of leading construction inspection staff for infrastructure and transportation projects in the New York City Metro Area
- This position entails all typical duties of a resident engineer with an inspection/office engineering staff, as well as project management on behalf of infrastructure owners
- Act as a primary field liaison between the owner and contractor
- Plans, organizes, and supervises engineering and construction inspection activities monitors construction detailed cost breakdown and construction schedule. Serve as the senior representative for the inspection of contractor construction activities, payments, processing, and negotiation of claims and change orders
- Supervise a staff of personnel consisting of engineers, inspectors, project control, office engineers, project administrators, and specialty sub-consultants
- Leads progress meetings and interacts with client on a daily basis. Coordinates responses to technical submittals, RFI's and other technical issues with design engineers.
- Leads final project closeout documentation
- Ability to interpret construction plans, specifications, and contracts
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management
- Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience in the infrastructure and/or transit industry managing rail/transit projects, utilities, and structural rehabilitation projects with construction value of min $50M
- Previous resident engineering experience working with public rail infrastructure agencies
- Familiarity with NY-area agency standards
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials and safety standards
- Ability to work night shifts and weekends as necessary to properly oversee the project
- Professional engineering license or ability to obtain in New York state
- OSHA 30 certifications
- Excellent communication and communication skills
- Pre-employment and ongoing, random drug testing is required

Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, and unique skills.
The expected salary for this position is $152,000 - $186,000.
