Network Commissioning Engineer

Position Overview:

The Network Commissioning Engineer will be part of the System team within the organization to drive the integration of the Hierarchical network infrastructure for the Mobility projects, including its subsystem interfaces and functionalities. As a Network Commissioning Engineer, you will be responsible for developing various technical documents. You will also conduct field activities such as lead and witness functional performance testing and installation inspections.

Responsibilities:

• Develop technical documents that include plans, procedures and reports as well as troubleshooting guides
• Completes complex planning of detailed testing and field activities.
• Attend and participate in project and constructions team meetings
• Lead and attend functional performance tests in field during nights, weekends and/or weekdays
• Identify and report all System or project issues, diligently following up on these issues with the System Engineering team until the issue is resolved

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and

Experience:

• 0-3 years of hands-on experience in Ethernet LAN / WAN routing & switching architectures and configurations based on Alcatel Lucent Enterprise and Cisco products.
• Ability to perform WAN backbone and complex routed network troubleshooting, field problem isolation and network diagnostic skills.
• High caliber organized detail oriented and self-motivated individual with passion to learn and grow in a high potential team environment having excellent communication skills to proactively handle multiple project initiatives, with various demands and field integration challenges.
• Prefer CCNP or CCNA certification
• Working knowledge of legacy Spanning Tree, ITU G.8032 (ring protection) and ITU.G.8031 (linear protection), along with Ethernet routing protocols: OSPF, VRRP and BGP.
• Working knowledge in using Ethernet Testers: JDSU or equivalent, packet analyzers and captures for field integration level troubleshooting and validation.
• Working knowledge of SNMP and Network Management Systems:
  Alcatel Lucent Enterprise Omni Vista 2500, Cisco or HP Open View NNM.
• Entry level knowledge and experience in network firewalls from Palo Alto, Cisco or equivalent.
• Experience in documentation, field commissioning and integration test plans.
• Experience in Client Visio, Operating Systems:
  Windows server & Linux.
• Willingness to work in field:
  Rail wayside environments with time restricted deliverables, Lab concept build out and proof of concept testing, extended work hours (if required) with quality and integrity in all deliverables.
• Green card holder or US citizen.
