Senior Project Manager

GE delivers communication solutions for critical infrastructures with a focus on EPC/turnkey projects in areas such as energy, oil and gas, mining, water/wastewater, and transportation, with a special focus on electrical infrastructure and grid automation.

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for planning, managing, and contractually handling projects from handover to the preliminary acceptance certificate (PAC), ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction and maximum profit/value. The project manager is responsible for managing projects considering financial and operational aspects such as budget, technical and contractual scope, resources, and execution planning. He/she is also responsible for safety, quality, risk, and opportunity management to ensure customer satisfaction both internally and externally.

The Senior Project Manager will manage a portfolio of 6–8 active projects, including CCS & DCS systems (protection & control) as well as services and individual products running in parallel.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing project execution from offer to end of warranty period, including FAT (factory acceptance test), delivery, and commissioning.
  • Applying best practices in project management (according to project management manual and specific product line instructions), with a special focus on handover inspections, project gate reviews, and project closure.
  • Contributing to the operational performance of the unit through precise forecasts of financial KPIs: revenue, cash flow, and contribution margin.
  • Primary customer contact for contract management.
  • Ensuring compliance with contractual obligations to the customer through clear feedback with consistent interaction (e.g., phone, email, etc.), customer meetings, regular reviews, etc.
  • Executing projects in collaboration with the engineering, logistics, procurement, purchasing, and finance departments.
  • Monthly update of action plan progress as well as revenue/cash flow forecasts.
  • Preparation and presentation of project reviews.
  • Leading comprehensive documentation and records of the executed projects.
  • Managing resource planning and team workload to ensure a billable rate of 90% or more.
  • Leading EHS/safety measures and services: full compliance with GE rules and processes and ensuring that project teams (own and subcontracted) are properly trained and have the required qualifications.
  • Supporting sales teams by sharing "lessons learned" (ROEs) that lead to optimized project costs and delivery times.
  • Implementing a contract management/change strategy in the interest of GEV.
  • Contributing to company growth by independently managing variation orders (variation orders) for the respective projects as needed.
  • Setting an example for GE's leadership behaviors in the performance of roles and responsibilities.

Qualifications/requirements include:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical/electronics/telecommunications engineering from an accredited university or college or equivalent.
  • Industry knowledge.
  • Previous experience in telecommunications/network or IP field activities.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management in an EPC/turnkey business.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a project team of 3–6 people.
  • Fluent German and English language skills are required.
  • Technical knowledge in IP or MPLS or SDG protocols, industrial wireless technology, protection control technology, routers, and switch, powerline carrier are advantageous.
  • Travel readiness: 20%.
