Staff Level Geotechnical Engineer

We are seeking a motivated staff level geotechnical engineer to assist with complex and challenging projects in New York City and New York Metro area. Staff-level engineers have the opportunity to observe and document field explorations and construction activities, perform and review analyses and design calculations, and prepare technical correspondence, including reports, letters, and design memos under supervision of senior staff.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties

This role includes subsurface explorations, construction observation/management, geotechnical and structural design, instrumentation design and interpretation, and technical specification support. Other responsibilities include:

• Performing geotechnical field explorations and testing.
• Coordinating and interpreting lab test data.
• Developing spreadsheets and databases.
• Performing engineering analysis and calculations.
• Preparing technical memos, reports, and construction specifications.
• Observing and documenting construction activities.
• Preparing and modifying drawings using AutoCAD.

Minimum Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering; M.S. with Geotechnical emphasis is a preferred.
• EIT preferred; ability to obtain professional registration.
• 1-4 years of previous professional experience in civil/geotechnical engineering.
• Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.
• Experience with spatial analysis and visualization software such as CAD, Civil 3D, and GIS.
• Experience with geotechnical analysis software, such as Geo Studio (SEEP/W and SLOPE/W).
• Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
• Willingness and ability to perform field tasks and oversight.
• Valid U.S. driver's license.
