Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a skilled Staff Accountant to join our team in New York, New York, on a long-term contract basis.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the financial operations of a dynamic retail company. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Director of Finance to ensure accurate financial processes and reporting.

Responsibilities:

- Oversee accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) operations to maintain accurate financial records.

- Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies to ensure timely and accurate payments.

- Perform reconciliations for vendor statements and other financial accounts.

- Prepare and review commission statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with policies.

- Contribute to the preparation of accruals and assist with cash flow management.

- Utilize Quick Books Online to manage and record financial transactions efficiently.

- Conduct data entry and review to maintain precise financial records.

- Support the Director of Finance with ad-hoc tasks and financial analysis as needed.

- Collaborate with vendors to address issues and maintain strong attention to detail in relationships.

- Assist in creating financial reports and insights using Microsoft Excel and other tools. Requirements - A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance roles.

- Proficiency in Quick Books Online for managing financial data.

- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis and reporting.

- Solid understanding of accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes.

- Experience with journal entries and maintaining general ledger accuracy.

- Strong ability to reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.

- Knowledge of Power BI or similar tools is a plus.

- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
