Supervisor, Anesthesia

Job Description

Supervises and coordinates the day to day operations of Anesthesia Technologists. Ensures adherence to established maintenance and decontamination standards and procedures.

Job Responsibility

* Promotes Anesthesia department goals by selecting, motivating, and training capable team members.

* Leads the activities of assigned Anesthesia team members by communicating and providing guidance toward achieving department objectives.

* Supervises, hires, trains, disciplines and evaluates the performance of staff.

* Prioritizes schedules and assigns work to optimize operational service.

* Analyzes, recommends, implements and monitors approved work-flow changes.

* Ensures performance appraisals are completed in a timely manner.

* Trains staff in the operation, troubleshooting and initiation of repairs to anesthesia equipment.

* Supervises and maintains anesthesia equipment located in satellite procedural and ambulatory surgical centers.

* Ensures staff adherence to safety and infection control policies including decontamination procedures and waste disposal.

* Monitors the environment and equipment to ensure decontamination standards are maintained.

* Prepares appropriate departmental statistics, QA monitors and provides reports to management, including monthly laboratory QA and Blood Salvage reports.

Job Qualification

* Associate's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.

* Current Anesthesia Technologist Certification, and Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Certification required, plus specialized certifications as needed.

* 4-6 years of relevant experience and 0-2 years of leadership / management experience, required.
