Position Summary
The New York Nutrition Obesity Research Center (NYNORC) at Columbia University Medical Center is seeking a full-time Clinical Research Coordinator to join our team. NYNORC is committed to excellence in teaching, research, and patient care. Our research spans clinical, translational, and basic science, featuring collaborations across specialties and extending from bench to bedside. We also conduct active clinical trials with volunteer participants.
The Clinical Research Coordinator will report to the Principal Investigator/Core Laboratory Director and work collaboratively with the team to perform human body composition measurements and indirect calorimetry assessments in volunteer participants enrolled in ongoing research studies. Training will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for scheduling volunteers in studies requiring body composition and energy expenditure measurements.
- Calibrate and operate body composition instruments to measure fat, fat-free mass, and body dimensions in children and adults enrolled in research studies. (Training provided.)
- Calibrate and operate human chamber calorimeters to measure energy expenditure in study participants. (Training provided.)
- Schedule participants, maintain calendars, perform quality control checks on data with Laboratory Directors, and send reports to study investigators.
- Prepare quarterly usage reports for billing and annual NIH reporting.
- Provide administrative assistance for daily Core Laboratory operations.
- Ensure accurate and high-quality data entry.
- Assist the PI with required documentation.
- Manage correspondence, generate study materials, and execute administrative tasks in collaboration with study staff.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education, training and experience.
- Flexible, organized, and detail-oriented.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to communicate and present information effectively to management, investigators, and staff.
- Computer proficiency.
- Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve.
- Ability to perform light physical activity.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-3 years of related research experience.
- Experience with data collection and basic data management.
- Knowledge of human physiology, biology, and/or nutrition.
Other Requirements
- Participation in the medical surveillance program
- Contact with patients and/or human research subjects
- Potential blood borne pathogen exposure
- Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements
