Job Title: Payroll Assistant
Location: New York, NY 10004
Job Type: Contract | Local Candidates Preferred
Pay Rate: $28 - $31 per hour (Based on Experience)
Schedule:
Monday-Friday | Day Shift
Hours: 08:00 AM - 04:00 PM (35-40 hours per week, including 1-hour lunch)
Note: Flexible schedule required every other Friday (6:00 AM-2:00 PM or 10:00 AM-6:00 PM)
Position Overview
"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Assistant to support HR and Finance teams in delivering accurate and timely payroll services within a fast-paced healthcare environment. This role involves payroll processing, maintaining employee records, ensuring compliance with payroll regulations, and assisting with payroll reporting and audits.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Processing
- Process payroll accurately including wages, overtime, bonuses, deductions, tax with holdings, garnishments, and benefits
- Perform retroactive pay calculations and payroll adjustments
- Maintain accurate payroll system entries and support timely payroll processing
- Maintain employee payroll records within payroll and HRIS systems
- Track and verify time and attendance records
- Assist with payroll system updates and integrations
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
- Reconcile payroll records and assist with payroll audits
- Support year-end payroll activities including reporting and W-2 preparation
- Respond to payroll inquiries and resolve pay discrepancies
- Provide guidance to employees regarding payroll procedures and policies
Education
- High School Diploma required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or related field preferred
- Minimum 2+ years of payroll processing experience
- Experience handling garnishments, payroll taxes, and year-end payroll activities
- Experience with payroll systems such as ADP, Paychex, or Quick Books
- Strong analytical and payroll calculation skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- High accuracy in data entry and record management
- Ability to manage confidential employee information
- Strong communication and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment
- FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification) or CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) is a plus
