The
** Associate Product Designer
** creates user-centered experiences and interfaces for products and solutions that improve end-to-end user journeys. As an Associate Product Designer, you will support our digital data and platform tools and work on product experiences that colleagues across Amex use to store, access, and analyze customer data. You will work closely with product managers, engineers, and other designers to deliver best-in-class UX artifacts that assist in the creation and optimization of our tools.
You'll also have the support of your design leader and a broad community of designers, with a shared goal of continuously developing our craft and sharing learnings with one another. This role reports to the Manager of Product Design.
** THE ROLE*
* + Ensures visually appealing and usable user interfaces by delivering artifacts such as wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity specifications
+ Develops understanding and empathy for users through user-centered methodologies, external analysis, research, and data
+ Presents design decisions to peers and partners with support from senior colleagues
+ Learns to utilize American Express design processes, design systems, and UX patterns
+ Collaborates closely with product managers, engineers, and design leads to understand and deliver against project requirements
+ Participates in the design community
+ Is a passionate advocate for users
+ Synthesizes user needs and business objectives to formulate testable prototypes and validate hypotheses
+ Ideates and prototypes in both high- and low-fidelity formats using pen and paper as well as digital tools
+ Demonstrates a positive attitude, open mind, and a desire to collaborate and learn
** QUALIFICATIONS*
* + 3 years of UX / Product Design experience
+ Exceptional skills in ideation, sketching, wire framing, and user flows
+ Strong portfolio demonstrating complex design execution and highlighting an end-to-end design process from concept through in-production experience
+ Strong visual design skills for responsive web design (grids, spacing, typography, color, etc.)
+ Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
+ Analytical approach to complex problems and ability to organize complex information into easy-to-understand structures
+ Ability to multitask, work both independently and collaboratively, and proactively seek feedback
+ Understanding of lean/agile product development methods
+ Ability to self-organize and prioritize across multiple projects
+ Ability to learn quickly and act as a design evangelist
+ Preference will be given to New York-area-based candidates
** Qualifications*
* Salary Range: $78,000.00 to $ annually bonus benefits
