Duties and responsibilities

Office background: this internship is located in the communications & outreach unit (cou) within the project management office (pmo) of the united nations office of information and communications technology (oict). Oict enables a better, safer, more sustainable future through innovative technology. The office is responsible for defining strategic direction for ict in the secretariat. It provides oversight of ict programmes, systems, applications and decision-making and is committed to ensuring colleagues all over the world have the necessary ict tools to succeed in their respective mandates.

The communications and outreach team increases the visibility of oict's work through strategic communications and consistent brand messaging, engaging the global ict community, supporting un-wide collaboration, and strengthening ict partnerships. The team also delivers expert editorial and design support across oict, and manages oict internal and external websites, as well as social media platforms. Office duties: the intern will support the oict communications team in promoting the work of oict and its personnel by assisting in the production of engaging multimedia content.

Duties may include, but are not limited to:
• create short videos for oict projects, initiatives and teams for social media coverage.
• assist with the production of supporting graphics, including social media assets.
• provide script writing and editing support.
• perform post-production tasks on acquired footage:
• edit videos for publishing on oict social media platforms.
• optimize graphics and video content for web and social media.
• create graphics and web banners for ict stories as needed.
• assist with other ad hoc communications-related activities as instructed.

Qualifications/special skills

To qualify for an internship with the united nations internship programme, applicants must meet one of the following requirements: a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or, b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).

• proficiency in online designing tool, canva or adobe express.
• experience with video editing tools such as microsoft clipchamp, imovie or similar platforms.
• familiarity with office 365 applications (word, power point, excel, teams).
• knowledge of content management applications such as microsoft sharepoint online and drupal platforms is an asset. No working experience is required to apply for the united nations internship programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the united nations during your internship. Have you completed a un internship before? Languages

English and french are the working languages of the united nations secretariat. For this position advertised, fluency in english (both oral and written) is required. Knowledge of another official un language is an advantage.
