This role supports the operation, maintenance and adjustment of steam power plants and electromechanical building equipment in public buildings and municipal facilities.
SalaryNYC Health + Hospitals provided pay range:
Base pay range $73.90 per hour.

Under supervision, operates, maintains and adjusts steam power plant and electromechanical building equipment; performs related work.
- Operate, maintain and adjust boilers, furnaces, engines, pumps, heat exchangers, generators, motors, and related equipment for heating, ventilating, air conditioning, lighting and associated equipment in public buildings, municipal pumping stations and incinerators.
- Make periodic inspections of equipment and perform minor repairs.
- Perform preventive maintenance.
- Takes responsible charge of a watch and directs subordinate personnel.
- Operate control consoles in control rooms.
- Prepare requisitions for materials and spare parts.
- Instruct and train subordinates and other personnel.
- Read and log meters, gauges and other recording devices.
- Keep records and make reports.
- Inspect low pressure boilers in accordance with a unified inspection procedure instituted by the New York City Department of Buildings.
- A valid license for High Pressure Boiler Operating Engineer issued by the New York City Department of Buildings. This license must be maintained for the duration of employment.
- A valid certificate of fitness for Standpipe, Automatic Sprinkler and/or Air Compressor issued by the New York City Fire Department, if required; must be obtained within ninety days from the day of appointment.
- For certain positions, a valid Certificate of Equivalent Instruction and/or a Restricted Asbestos Investigator Certificate issued by the New York City Department of Environmental Protection and/or a valid Certificate of Qualification for Refrigerating Machine Operator (Unlimited Capacity) issued by the New York City Fire Department and/or a Certificate for Hazardous Materials and/or a CFC Certificate issued by the EPA for Handling Refrigerants.
All required certificates must be maintained for the duration of the assignment.
