About GLAAD

As the world's largest LGBTQ media advocacy organisation, GLAAD is at the forefront of accelerating acceptance to ensure fair, accurate, and inclusive representation that leads to cultural change. For over 35 years, GLAAD has been a dynamic media force rewriting the script for LGBTQ acceptance. Our work tackles challenging issues shaping the narrative and provokes dialogue that leads to cultural change.

The work of GLAAD is a campaign-style work environment that operates on a breaking news cycle; there is always a high level of energy and rapid activity for everyone in the organisation, preparing for the next events/campaigns to accomplish our important media advocacy work, challenging anti-LGBTQ activism, and changing hearts and minds about our need for full equality. Staff members are expected to consciously and continuously promote the mission, values, programs, and impact of the organisation when presented with opportunities for participating in membership development and reaching out to personal connections on behalf of GLAAD.

GLAAD operates with support from foundations, corporations, and individuals from every corner of the United States and the world. Our highly skilled team of more than 60 staff members works out of our Headquarters in New York, Los Angeles, and remotely.

The Opportunity

Through interactive workshops, GMI (GLAAD Media Institute) empowers individuals and corporations to become effective storytellers and confident spokespeople, capable of engaging with the media and shaping public perception. These educational sessions focus on honing communication techniques, navigating media landscapes, and crafting compelling narratives that promote understanding and acceptance.

GMI's Consulting pillar provides expert guidance to a diverse range of industries, corporations, and organisations committed to advancing social justice. By partnering with these entities, GMI helps them to strategically leverage their platforms and influence to champion LGBTQ equality and create inclusive environments. This involves developing tailored strategies, providing sensitivity training, and assisting in the creation of impactful campaigns.

The Research component of GMI plays a vital role in informing its strategies and demonstrating its impact. Through carefully designed studies, meticulous data evaluation, and the development of key performance indicators, GMI strengthens its mission and drives evidence-based action. This research provides valuable insights into public attitudes, identifies areas for improvement, and measures the effectiveness of GMI's initiatives.

The Associate Director for Corporate Partnerships is responsible for fundraising for the GLAAD Media Institute and its programs, as well as events-based sponsorship packages. This role will report to the Head of Corporate Partnerships.
