The outpatient oncology infusion center provides comprehensive care for adult patients with a wide range of solid tumors and hematologic malignancies. In this role, the RN is responsible for providing specialized nursing care to patients receiving both chemotherapy and non-chemotherapy infusions. Key responsibilities include conducting detailed pre-treatment assessments, reviewing laboratory results and treatment parameters, verifying chemotherapy and supportive treatment orders, and administering intravenous therapies in accordance with established protocols and safety standards. The RN will manage central venous access devices and peripheral IVs, monitor patients closely during treatment, and respond promptly and appropriately to infusion reactions or changes in patient condition.

The position also requires providing comprehensive patient and family education regarding treatment regimens, anticipated side effects, symptom management, and follow-up care. Accurate and timely documentation in an electronic medical record is essential, as is effective communication with the interdisciplinary team to ensure continuity and quality of care. The RN will collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, and other team members to coordinate individualized care plans, support clinical decision-making, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.

The outpatient infusion center operates on a structured schedule designed to balance patient access and staff workload. This position is scheduled for four shifts per week, with shifts typically structured in 8- to 10-hour blocks during daytime clinic hours. The schedule provides a consistent framework while still allowing some flexibility in coverage for clinic needs. Patient assignments and nurse-to-patient ratios are managed to support safe, attentive care, with consideration of patient acuity, treatment complexity, and daily infusion volumes.
