The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Technician B will play a vital role in supporting our research initiatives, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in pediatrics while enhancing the educational experiences of trainees and collaborators. Within the (Developmental Origins of Resilience) DOOR Lab, our research focuses on mouse neuronal circuits activated during stress to better understand the biological basis of stress resilience. The selected candidate will work on projects at the intersection of Behavioral Neuroscience and Data Science, analyzing large datasets of brain images and behavioral outputs to reveal how brain circuits are activated and drive animal behavior in response to stressors.

Responsibilities

  • Participating in the ongoing analysis of activation maps in mouse brains, primarily using R open-source libraries.
  • Developing computer code, with guidance from senior team members, primarily using Image

    J and Python, to implement algorithms that characterize brain maps and behavioral trajectories.
  • Collaborating effectively within a team environment and regularly presenting progress and findings.
  • Assisting with data visualization and contributing to documentation of analyses, observations, and results to ensure accuracy, clarity, and accessibility.
  • Data Collection and Analysis:
    Recording accurate data and maintaining detailed records of procedures and outcomes; assisting in the analysis of data under the guidance of senior researchers.
  • Ensuring compliance with study protocols, including IRB and HIPAA requirements.
  • Assisting with lab management, including ordering and maintaining inventory of laboratory supplies.
  • Screening, scheduling, and assisting with research participants.
  • Interpreting and presenting data, as well as contributing to manuscript preparation.
  • Supporting REDCap management, including project setup and customization of project settings and forms to meet the requirements of individual research studies.
  • Performs related duties & responsibilities as assigned/requested.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology or physics or a completed animal husbandry program or equivalent in education, training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of various related laboratory procedures and techniques.
  • One year of related experience.
