Job Description & How to Apply Below

The Department of Pathology and Cell Biology at the Columbia University Medical Center would like to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Scientist to work in the laboratory of Dr. Andrew Teich. Our lab focuses on Alzheimer's disease, but through multiple collaborations we also have projects that address other neurodegenerative diseases of aging. Candidates should have an MD or PhD degree and first author publications demonstrating project leadership.

Our laboratory is a wet/dry lab that does both experimental work as well as computational analysis of genomic and genome expression data. This job posting is for a post-doc who will primarily do "wet" (experimental) work. Although not required, candidates that also have experience working with genomic or gene expression data are particularly welcome to apply. The PI is also the Director of the New York Brain Bank, and this serves as a resource both for our research as well as for the education of laboratory members in neurodegenerative disease biology.

Job Function:

* A major component of this job is to work with iPSC models (neuronal and microglial) for a variety of projects that are investigating both basic mechanisms of neurodegeneration as well as examining various drug candidates.

* This job also involves preparing human tissues and biofluids for a variety of single cell sequencing and spatial transcriptomics projects, and performing validation experiments.

* Though not required, if the candidate has an interest, there are opportunities to be involved in the omic data analysis from the above.

* The candidate will also be presenting data at lab meetings and papers at journal clubs.

* The candidate will also be writing papers resulting from this work and presenting findings at conferences, both internal and external.

Lab Mission/Purpose:

The purpose of our laboratory is to elucidate the mechanisms of neurodegeneration in Alzheimer's disease, and identify viable therapeutic targets.

Minimum Education Requirements:

Ph.D or M.D.

Minimum Skills Required:

At minimum, the candidate is expected to have experience with cell culture in some capacity and to have previously published peer reviewed work.

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with experience working with iPSC models are encouraged to apply.
