Fire Life Safety Director

Allied Universal is hiring a Fire Life Safety Director to oversee a corporate building in Midtown East Manhattan. The position is full time with work shifts available in the morning, afternoon, evening, and overnight. Workdays available are Sunday to Saturday. Pay rate is $28.87 - $29.87 per hour. Must exhibit great customer service skills, interacting with the general public on a daily basis and with clients and staff.

Requirements include an F85/F89 NYFD Certificate of Fitness and 2+ years of security experience.

The primary mission of the Fire Life Safety Director is to protect life and property through the implementation of the building's fire safety plan including the management of the Fire Command Station and the supervision of the fire brigade, floor wardens, deputy floor wardens, and building evacuation supervisors. The successful Fire Life Safety Director candidate is required to act as a liaison to the NYC Fire Department during emergencies.

Expected skills and competencies necessary to perform duties include, but are not limited to: ensuring that all life safety systems and related equipment are fully functional; ensuring that all floors have fire safety teams including Fire Wardens, Deputy Fire Wardens, and Building Evacuation Team members; conducting fire alarm drills and maintaining a written log of critiques to identify potential or actual weaknesses in response time or life safety systems and related equipment;

providing clear direction, information, and assistance to client visitors, guests, vendors, and employees in a professional, pleasant, and courteous fashion on a regular basis and during emergency situations; assisting the building security staff in the visual inspection of all visitor, vendor, and employee access badges/identification cards to verify that the authorized holder is the individual presenting the badge/ to prevent unauthorized access to the property;

maintaining surveillance and reporting of any suspicious persons and/or packages; and performing CPR/AED and basic first aid if required.

Physical and mental functions include standing or walking constantly on various surfaces; climbing stairs, ramps, or ladders occasionally; bending/twisting at waist/knees/neck to perform various duties; occasionally lifting or carrying up to 40 pounds; running as needed; constant use of both hands and arms in reaching/handling/grasping/fingering; constant use of eyes to observe, read, interact with public and co-workers, view security monitors; work in various environments including adverse outdoor conditions such as cold, rain, or heat;

constant mental alertness and attention to detail required while setting priorities and following up on assignments.

Qualifications/requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, at least 18 years of age, effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, ability to prepare written reports and logs in neat, legible handwriting, ability to read and understand all operating procedures and instructions, licensing requirements subject to state and/or local laws and regulations, successful completion of a background investigation and a post-offer/pre-employment drug/alcohol test, maintenance of current active status of all required licenses, display of exceptional customer service and communication skills, ability to remain flexible to ever changing environments, intermediate computer skills, ability to maintain satisfactory attendance and punctuality standard, neat and professional appearance, ability to provide quality customer service, ability to handle both common and crisis situations calmly and efficiently, read, understand, and clearly speak English, ability to handle pressure of working with high volume general public.
