Senior Software Engineer

Kforce has a client in New York, NY that is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their team.

Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Python contractor to support development, debugging, and issue resolution efforts. This is a hands-on role focused on quickly understanding existing systems, fixing defects, and delivering reliable code improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

* Write, modify, and maintain Python code for existing applications

* Debug and resolve defects in production and non-production environments

* Quickly analyze issues, identify root causes, and implement fixes is a must

* Support API development and troubleshooting (REST services)

* Work on enhancements, bug fixes, and small feature implementations

* Collaborate with team members to understand requirements and issues

* Review logs, debug failures, and improve system stability

* Work with databases to troubleshoot data-related issues
* Strong hands-on experience with Python development (3-7 years)

* Proven experience in debugging and troubleshooting production issues

* Experience with web frameworks (Flask, FastAPI, or Django)

* Strong understanding of APIs and backend services

* Experience with SQL/No

SQL databases

* Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments

* Good understanding of Git and version control

* Ability to quickly ramp up on existing codebases
