Firmware Engineer
Quest Global delivers world-class end-to-end engineering solutions by leveraging our deep industry knowledge and digital expertise. By bringing together technologies and industries, alongside the contributions of diverse individuals and their areas of expertise, we are able to solve problems better, faster. This multi-dimensional approach enables us to solve the most critical and large-scale challenges across the aerospace & defense, automotive, energy, hi-tech, healthcare, medical devices, rail and semiconductor industries.
We are looking for humble geniuses, who believe that engineering has the potential to make the impossible possible; innovators, who are not only inspired by technology and innovation, but also perpetually driven to design, develop, and test as a trusted partner for Fortune 500 customers. As a team of remarkably diverse engineers, we recognize that what we are really engineering is a brighter future for us all.
If you want to contribute to meaningful work and be part of an organization that truly believes when you win, we all win, and when you fail, we all learn, then we're eager to hear from you.
We are seeking a skilled Firmware Engineer to support embedded firmware development, debugging, and validation activities within our product development environment. This role is responsible for firmware bring-up, driver development, system integration, debugging complex hardware-software interactions, and supporting product validation teams with firmware-level diagnostics. The ideal candidate combines strong embedded systems expertise with collaborative problem-solving and thorough documentation practices.
The achievers and courageous challenge-crushers we seek, have the following characteristics and skills:
What You Will Do:Firmware Development & Bring-Up
- Develop and maintain Embedded Firmware for microcontrollers and application processors, including bootloaders, device drivers, and system initialization code
- Execute Board Bring-Up activities including initial power-on, peripheral validation, debug interface configuration, and hardware-software integration verification for each new board revision
Driver Development & System Integration
- Develop and optimize Device Drivers for sensors, communication interfaces (I2C, SPI, UART, USB), and peripheral subsystems
- Perform System Integration ensuring seamless interaction between firmware, hardware, and higher-level software/application layers
- Support Over-the-Air (OTA) Update mechanisms including firmware packaging, secure boot, and update validation
Debugging & Diagnostics
- Conduct Hardware-Software Debugging using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG/SWD debuggers, and serial consoles to resolve integration issues
- Perform Power Optimization analysis and implement low-power modes, sleep states, and wake-up logic to meet product power budgets
- Execute Firmware-Level Failure Analysis to support validation teams in root-causing field failures and test escapes
- Develop and maintain Diagnostic Tools & Scripts for automated firmware testing, log capture, and regression validation
Firmware Validation & Release
- Manage Firmware Build & Release Processes including version control, branching strategies, and release qualification
- Maintain Firmware Test Automation frameworks for unit testing, integration testing, and regression suites
- Support Certification & Compliance Testing (e.g., BT/BLE, Wi-Fi, regulatory) with firmware configuration and debug support
What You Will Bring:
Qualifications / Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Embedded Systems, or related technical field
- 3–5+ years of experience in embedded firmware development for consumer electronics or wearable devices
Skills & Competencies
- Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems; familiarity with Python for scripting and test automation
- Hands-on experience with RTOS (FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or equivalent) and bare-metal firmware development
- Strong knowledge of communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, USB, BLE, Wi-Fi) and peripheral interfacing
- Demonstrated experience with debugging tools — JTAG, SWD, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and serial debug consoles
- Excelle…
