Description of the role
We're looking for a software engineer to help us build the technical foundation of the company. You'll work directly with the founder and our Head of Engineering on the core product: the AI pipeline that ingests unstructured clinical notes, the analytics and worklist surfaces our customers use every day, and the integrations layer that connects us to the EMR systems where clinical data lives.

This is a high-leverage, full-stack role at a small company. You'll see your work translate directly into customer launches, revenue, and patient outcomes.

Responsibilities and potential impact

Develop agentic AI systems that scrub medical record data to surface critical insights and then act on them to improve clinical efficiency and outcomes

Build platform features that eye care practices rely on daily to enhance operations and patient care

Assist with secure, HIPAA-compliant API connections to EMR systems

Must haves

• Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

Exceptional software engineering capabilities, especially in Python

Experience using AI coding tools like Claude Code and Codex and building with language models

Adaptable, self-directed, excited about building from the ground up

Mission driven and genuinely excited about transforming eye care and reducing blindness through technology

Must be located commutable distance to New York City (or willing to relocate)

Nice to haves

Health tech experience is a plus, but not required, as you'll work directly with a trained ophthalmologist in this role

Experience with Type Script/React

Experience with SQL and working with large datasets

Experience with cloud platforms, especially Google Cloud Platform
