We're representing a rapidly growing infrastructure company building the technology that helps some of the world's largest digital platforms detect fraud, prevent abuse, and enforce trust and safety policies ir AI-powered platform enables organizations to manage content moderation, automate policy enforcement, investigate threats, and respond to increasingly sophisticated attacks across the internet.
Backed by leading investors including Accel and Y Combinator, the company is scaling its engineering organization to support growing customer demand. They're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the Core Infrastructure team responsible for the foundational systems powering workflow orchestration, AI agents, platform reliability, and large-scale data processing. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on building high-performing engineering teams while remaining technically engaged.
WhatYou Will Do
- Lead and develop a high-performing infrastructure engineering team responsible for core platform services and shared systems.
- Define team priorities, roadmaps, and execution plans aligned with business goals and engineering strategy.
- Coach engineers through regular feedback, career development, and technical mentorship.
- Improve engineering execution by establishing clear ownership, reducing operational friction, and raising delivery quality.
- Build a culture of shared ownership that minimizes reliance on individual contributors and improves team resilience.
- Partner closely with Product, Customer Success, Go-to-Market, and other engineering teams to prioritize work and deliver customer impact.
- Drive operational excellence by establishing reliability goals, improving observability, and proactively addressing technical debt.
- Lead architecture discussions and contribute directly to technical design and implementation when appropriate.
- Help define engineering metrics, operational processes, and best practices as the organization scales.
- Influence the future structure and leadership of the engineering organization alongside senior technical leadership.
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience building production systems.
- 4+ years of engineering management experience within startup environments.
- Proven experience leading platform, infrastructure, or backend engineering teams.
- Strong technical background with experience reviewing architecture, guiding technical decisions, and contributing to production code when needed.
- Experience managing high-throughput, data-intensive platforms, workflow engines, automation systems, or AI-powered infrastructure.
- Demonstrated success building high-performing engineering teams with strong execution, ownership, and operational discipline.
- Experience setting technical roadmaps and prioritizing work in rapidly changing environments.
- Familiarity with modern AI-assisted development tools and how they improve engineering productivity.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience collaborating across technical and customer-facing organizations.
- Passion for coaching engineers and creating environments where teams can operate autonomously.
- Experience building Trust & Safety, fraud prevention, abuse detection, or platform integrity systems.
- Background working at the intersection of Product and Engineering.
- Experience supporting customer-facing infrastructure or technical implementation teams.
- Strong understanding of engineering operational metrics such as DORA, SLIs, SLOs, incident management, and platform reliability.
- Experience leading engineering organizations through rapid growth and organizational scaling.
- Startup experience building infrastructure products from early stage through significant scale.
- Strong opinions on engineering culture, team effectiveness, and operational excellence.
- Interest in AI infrastructure, workflow automation, and platform engineering.
- Base salary: $240,000–$280,000.
