AI Engineer (Applied/Software)
Head Of Forward Deployed Engineering
As Head of Forward Deployed Engineering at Amigo, you'll lead the Forward Deployed Engineers and Deployment Strategists who deploy our technology inside major health systems, life sciences, payor organizations, and government entities. Amigo isn't a point solution. We're the infrastructure our customers build their agents on, and the Applied AI team is how that platform becomes agents clinicians and patients actually use.
You're accountable for what the field delivers end to end, from fast time-to-value to real clinician adoption to Amigo's expansion inside each account. The core of the job is building the team, the playbooks, and the quality bar as Amigo takes on more customers with deeper integrations. You'll be working with product, growth, and leadership to shape Amigo's field and platform strategy.
Your responsibilities include:
- Hiring and growing the field team, and developing the leaders inside it
- Owning Applied AI-wide outcomes across the customer portfolio, from time-to-value to clinician adoption to customer health
- Setting the reference architectures, standards, and playbooks that every deployment is built within
- Acting as the team's voice to product and leadership on what customers need and where the platform goes next
- Staying close to the hardest deployments and most senior stakeholders to hold the line on scope, timelines, and quality
We're looking for someone with:
- Experience leading customer-facing delivery, forward-deployed, or solutions teams, ideally in healthcare technology, enterprise SaaS, or consulting
- Direct experience in healthcare delivery environments (clinical operations, hospital administration, or health system strategy)
- Real technical depth, you've shipped production software or AI systems and can make architecture and tradeoff calls with your engineers, not around them
- Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across clinical leadership, IT, operations, finance, and compliance
- Experience with LLMs and agent systems
- A track record hiring, growing, and developing leaders, raising the bar of a whole team rather than delivering as an individual
- Strong business acumen, comfortable with ROI models, unit economics, and quantifying operational impact
- Low ego, direct, and holds yourself and your team to a high bar
- Able to work on site in New York City or San Francisco
Patients Win, We Win
If patients aren't getting better care, we haven't earned the right to scale. Every internal decision gets pressure-tested: does this make patients' lives better? If we can't draw the line, we question why we're doing it.
High Standards, High Care
We hold a high bar for the team because patients are counting on us to get this right. But high standards only work with genuine investment in each other. You can take risks, admit mistakes, and challenge ideas—not despite our standards, but because of them.
Thoughtful Urgency
We move fast by default, but speed without judgment is recklessness. The discipline is knowing which decisions are reversible vs. not. In healthcare AI, the companies that win will be fast everywhere they can be and careful everywhere they must be. We build the muscle to do both.
Intensely Measured
We instrument patient outcomes, provider ROI, system performance, and clinical accuracy. But data without action is surveillance. Every metric should have an owner, a threshold, and a response plan. If we're measuring something but never acting on it, we stop measuring it.
Low ego:
Politics and territory don't interest you. The best ideas win, regardless of who has them.
Direct:
You say the hard thing, challenge ideas openly, and commit fully once decided.
High agency:
You thrive on trust rather than instruction. When you see something is broken, you fix it. You don't file tickets and wait for someone else.
Bar of excellence:
You hold yourself to a bar most people wouldn't, and you want teammates who do the same.
Skeptical:
You push back on rules that don't make sense and question assumptions that haven't earned their place.
