Java Engineering Manager

We are seeking a Java Engineering Manager to provide hands-on technical leadership for enterprise-scale Java microservices, cloud modernization, and distributed systems. This role combines architecture and solution design, hands-on engineering, delivery leadership, client consulting, and team mentorship.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Java/Spring Boot, microservices, AWS, Kubernetes, Kafka, CI/CD, and enterprise integrations, along with the ability to lead distributed engineering teams and communicate effectively with technical and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture, design, development, and delivery of scalable, secure, resilient Java microservices and REST APIs.
• Remain hands-on with solution design, critical code paths, code reviews, debugging, performance tuning, and technical decision-making.
• Translate business requirements into technical designs, delivery plans, estimates, risks, and measurable acceptance criteria.
• Design and modernize cloud-native solutions on AWS, including containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes/EKS.
• Lead event-driven architectures and integrations using Kafka, APIs, enterprise messaging, and relational/No
  
  SQL databases.
• Drive engineering best practices across Dev Sec Ops , CI/CD, automated testing, observability, security, and production readiness.
• Partner with clients, product, architecture, security, QA, Dev Ops, and program teams to deliver reliable technology solutions.
• Serve as a technical escalation point for complex application, integration, cloud, performance, and production issues.
• Lead technical workshops, architecture reviews, solution walkthroughs, demos, and modernization initiatives with client stakeholders.
• Mentor engineers through design reviews, code reviews, technical coaching, and structured problem-solving while promoting a strong engineering culture.
• Leverage AI-assisted development and modernization practices to accelerate delivery while maintaining human validation, security, quality, and accountability.

Required Qualifications

• 9+ years of software engineering experience, with significant hands-on Java development and technical leadership.
• Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, REST APIs, JPA/Hibernate, Maven/Gradle, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Proven experience designing enterprise-scale solutions, APIs, integrations, and non-functional requirements.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes;
  Amazon EKS preferred.
• Experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven architecture.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD, Jenkins, Git Hub, automated testing, Sonar Qube, secure coding, and Dev Sec Ops  practices.
• Experience with observability/APM tools such as Dynatrace and production troubleshooting.
• Demonstrated experience leading distributed engineering teams and working directly with clients and senior stakeholders.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, estimation, risk-management, and technical decision-making skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Terraform, Helm, Open Telemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, AWS Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, or API gateways.
• Experience with IBM MQ, Mule Soft, or enterprise integration platforms.
• Experience leading cloud migration, legacy modernization, or large-scale digital transformation initiatives.
• Experience applying AI-assisted engineering practices such as Code2

  Code or AI-enabled software development.
• Experience in enterprise domains such as financial services, retail, travel/hospitality, or consumer products.
