About the Opportunity:
Chelsea Piers is seeking to hire a Dockhand to join our Marina team. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting in the daily operation of the Marina and Docks, accommodating all seasonal and transient customers, and assist in the general maintenance of the facility. This role reports to the Marina Manager & Assistant Dockmaster and works closely with other Dockhands and the Marina office.
As the Dockhand, you will be expected to:
- Greet all customers upon arrival
- Promote the marina and lease in-water storage slips
- Monitor VHF for all communications with the marina
- Approve inbound and outbound clearance as boats arrive and depart
- Ensure all customers have an exceptional experience at the marina
- Maintain and enforce marina rules to ensure the safety and compliance of all guests
- Perform daily inspection of the docks
- Submit reports of any issues that need to be addressed
- Perform daily dock walks verifying all empty slips and boats are in the correct slips
- Verify all transient boats have arrived / departed according to their reservations
- Upon vessel departures, verify all accounts are up to date and paid in full with the Dockmaster
- Maintain a clean property and marina by keeping docks clear and removing any trash when seen
- Take proactive approach to severe weather prevention; steps to secure and protect docks, vessels, customer and marina personnel
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with customers, coworkers, and all departments
- All other duties as assigned by management

You work well both independently and in a team environment. You are punctual, professional, and able to communicate clearly and effectively with your teammates. You must be comfortable working around boats and on the water. You are able to stand for long periods of time working in all weather elements throughout your shift.
Qualifications:
- High School Degree or equivalent
- Previous marina experience preferred
- Basic boat handling experience preferred
- Previous customer service experience preferred
- Must thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work safely around the water
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be highly organized, flexible, and detail oriented
- Must be capable of working both independently and as part of a team
- Must have a flexible schedule to include working weekends, holidays, and evenings
