A well-established construction company in Suffolk County is seeking a detail-oriented, dependable Project Accountant to support the financial operations of large-scale construction projects. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys project-based accounting work, and wants to play a key role in ensuring accurate cost tracking and financial reporting.

Core Responsibilities
  • Perform job cost reporting and maintain accurate project financial records
  • Manage accounts payable
    , including cost coding, invoice review, and vendor communication
  • Complete bank reconciliations and assist with union payroll reporting
  • Work closely with Project Managers and Controllers to ensure timely approvals and proper cost allocation
  • Process subcontractor and vendor invoices and review for contract compliance
  • Submit required documentation through municipal reporting portals and track payment statuses
  • Prepare and maintain Excel spreadsheets and contribute to financial reporting
  • Assist with special projects and month‑end tasks as directed by the Controller
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • 3–5+ years of construction accounting or project accounting experience
  • Proficiency with Sage 300 (Timberline) or similar construction accounting software
  • Strong understanding of job cost reporting and AP functions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; comfortable managing large datasets
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of meeting deadlines
  • Effective communicator with strong collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, project-driven environment
