Managing Director at Ascendo Resources NYCAscendo Resources is actively seeking a Staff Accountant with retail industry experience for an immediate, full-time, onsite position.
Our client, a renowned global luxury retail firm, is located in New York, NY 10018.
The Staff Accountant will assist in the day-to-day operations of the Accounting department related to cash transactions, ultimately leading to the preparation of monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual cash flow reporting. The ideal candidate will have retail accounting and strong sales audit experience.
Hours: Monday – Friday (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
Responsibilities:
- Review chargebacks deducted from credit card settlements and notify the Loss and Prevention department
- Prepare monthly journal entries for financial statements, including weekly and bi-weekly payroll and bonus accruals
- Prepare monthly gross sales and calculate percentage rent
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for all accounts
- Perform general ledger analysis for assigned accounts (e.g., Accounts Receivable for cash and credit card receivables)
- Reconcile monthly and quarterly payroll (ADP vs. AX)
- Download reports from Concur and book T&E reports on a bi-weekly basis
- Rebill intercompany charges
- Assist in the preparation of year-end work papers, journal entries, and support auditors during the year-end audit
- Prepare monthly cash flow reports
Qualifications:
- Proficient in Excel (Pivot Tables & VLOOKUPs)
- Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) in the United States
- Experience with an ERP system such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics
- Hands-on experience working with general ledgers
- Experience with a digital payment system such as Piteco or any UPI system
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills
