Under the supervision of the Chief Accounting Officer and working with the internal and external stakeholders, the Director, External Reporting and Technical Accounting is responsible for leading the preparation of all external reporting materials and for researching, interpreting and documenting accounting guidance, developing and maintaining accounting policies and providing technical leadership for significant business transactions.
External Reporting- Manage the preparation, review and filing of SEC reports, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q and 8-K, ensuring accurate and complete disclosures in compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements, as well as supplemental and other investor materials
- Partner closely with Investor Relations and Legal teams to develop accurate, transparent and consistent disclosures across various externally released documents
- Active management of reporting calendar to ensure timely preparation, review and finalization of information used to support financial reporting
- Monitor and provide analysis on changing or new FASB or SEC disclosure rules that may impact future financial reporting
- Maintain and update reporting policies, ensuring appropriate interpretation, communication and implementation of new standards and disclosure requirements
- Share insights and actively participate in Disclosure Committee discussions to drive informed decision making by the executive leadership
- Serve as the primary technical accounting resource for key transactions and accounting judgments, including but not limited to:
- Leases (ASC 842)
- Equity and stock-based compensation (ASC 718)
- Consolidation, joint ventures and VIE assessments
- Research and interpret new and existing accounting guidance and assess impacts to the Company
- Prepare technical accounting memoranda documenting key judgments and conclusions
- Develop, maintain and update the Company’s formal accounting policies and procedures
- Lead implementation of new accounting standards, including scoping, impact analysis and coordination with stakeholders
- Play an active role in building and maintaining a high-performing team through focused coaching and mentorship, and strengthening cross-functional partnerships through meaningful collaboration
- Other duties as assigned.
- 10+ years of proven expertise gained through public accounting firm and U.S. public company external reporting and technical accounting roles with deep U.S.GAAP, SEC and SOX knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- CPA certification is required.
- Big 4 experience preferred.
- MRI and Power BI experience preferred.
- RE experience preferred, especially in healthcare real estate
