About the Role:The Accountant will support the Company's accounting and financial reporting functions, with a focus on Accounts Receivable (AR). This role is responsible for ensuring accurate billing, timely cash collections, and proper revenue recognition, while also supporting general ledger accounting and month-end close activities.
General Accounting & Close Support- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including Cash, AR, reserves, and inventory-related accounts
- Track and analyze gross sales, deductions, net revenue, and margins
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Support internal and external audits and SOX/internal control compliance
- Manage accounts receivable processes, including cash application and collections
- Monitor customer aging reports and follow up on past-due balances
- Research and resolve customer deductions, chargebacks, short pays, and disputes
- Account for trade promotions, billbacks, and allowances in coordination with Sales
- Ensure accurate revenue recognition in accordance with GAAP
- Maintain customer account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
- Partner with Sales, Customer Service, and Operations to resolve billing and deduction issues
- Identify opportunities to improve AR processes, reduce days sales outstanding (DSO), and strengthen controls
- Assist with ERP and system enhancements related to AR and revenue processes
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 2-5 years of accounting experience (public or corporate)
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Work Location: New York City, Hybrid (3 days in the office)
Pay range and compensation package - $70,000 - $80,000 per year with annual bonus potential.
