Client: Established Organization
Role: Restricted Gifts Accountant
Pay Rate: $75,000 - $85,000 annually
Location: New York City, NY
An established organization is seeking a detail-oriented Restricted Gifts Accountant with strong fund accounting experience to support the management and reporting of donor-restricted contributions. This role is responsible for ensuring proper tracking, allocation, compliance, and reporting of restricted funds in accordance with donor intent and organizational policies.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in a nonprofit or mission-driven environment and a solid understanding of fund accounting principles.
Responsibilities- Track and manage donor-restricted gifts and contributions
- Ensure funds are allocated and spent in accordance with donor restrictions
- Maintain accurate fund balances and supporting schedules
- Prepare journal entries and perform account reconciliations
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
- Support financial reporting related to restricted and unrestricted funds
- Partner with development and program teams regarding gift usage
- Assist with audit preparation and compliance documentation
- Monitor grant expenditures and reporting requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in nonprofit or fund accounting
- Strong understanding of restricted vs. unrestricted funds
- Experience handling donations, grants, and contribution tracking
- Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems (e.g., Net Suite, Sage Intacct, Financial Edge, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple funding sources simultaneously
