Our client is hiring a detail oriented Property Accountant to support the day to day accounting operations across a portfolio of 12–15 luxury co-op and condominium properties. This is a hands on role for someone who thrives in a fast paced real estate environment and enjoys partnering closely with property managers, vendors, and ownership.
What You’ll Do Accounts Receivable & Tenant Accounting- Process daily rent receipts and post tenant payments (ACH, checks, wires)
- Maintain accurate tenant ledgers and resolve payment discrepancies
- Monitor account balances and prepaid expenses
- Review, code, and enter vendor invoices
- Ensure proper approvals and GL coding of property expenses
- Prepare and process AP payment batches
- Post journal entries, accruals, and reclassifications
- Complete monthly bank and security deposit reconciliations
- Support month end close and financial statement preparation
- Analyze budget vs actual variances and summarize findings
- Support ownership reporting and internal financial reviews
- Act as the key accounting liaison between property managers, vendors, and ownership
- 2–5 years of accounting experience
- Strong AP and AR fundamentals
- Comfortable with GL coding and reconciliations
- Experience managing multiple properties at once
Hands on experience with one or more of the following:
- MRI Software
- Yardi
- Prior co-op and condominium accounting experience strongly preferred
- Former Property Managers with co-op/condo exposure welcome
- Commercial real estate candidates considered if required systems experience is present
