We are seeking a dedicated and flexible Staff Accountant with a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. The ideal candidate will have 1‑2 years of general accounting experience and will be responsible for a variety of accounting tasks including month‑end processes, journal entries, purchase orders, and account reconciliations.
Responsibilities- Create purchase orders and collaborate with vendors to receive invoices and ensure backup is received.
- Reconcile bank statements accurately and efficiently.
- Calculate and enter revenue, maintaining statistical worksheets.
- Maintain prepaid schedules and prepare corresponding journal entries.
- Prepare additional journal entries as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- 1‑2 years of general accounting experience.
- Proficiency in month‑end closing processes, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
- Experience with purchase orders and bank reconciliation.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with general ledger and balance sheet management.
- Familiarity with accounting software such as Fund EZ.
- Experience in the not‑for‑profit or non‑profit sector is advantageous.
The position is within the Accounting Department, which consists of a team of 10 professionals, including roles such as Assistant Accountant, Accounting Manager, Senior Accountant, Payroll Manager, and more. The office maintains a business casual dress code. The workplace is accessible via mass transit, with a short walk from the 7 train station.
Job Type & LocationThis is a contract position based out of Flushing, NY.
Pay and BenefitsPay range: $28.00 - $35.00 per hour.
