Compensation: $65,000 - $75,000/ Annually

Since its beginning in 2002, Housing Plus has worked to address the lack of housing and services for women who have historically been underserved and marginalized, especially women impacted by the criminal justice system, and for the past 10 years, also female Veterans.

Position SummaryHousing Plus is seeking a Staff Accountant within its Finance department. This position reports to the Executive VP of Finance. The Staff Accountant will provide accounting support to the Accounts Payable, general fiscal areas of Housing Plus.
Skills- Excellent interpersonal skills for working with diverse organization staff, in a positive, inclusive work environment.
- Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines without compromising quality.
- Proficiency in MS Excel.
- Requires excellent communication skills.
- Review and process accounts payable (A/P) invoices and generate checks & electronic payments to vendors/suppliers.
- Communicate with vendors as needed.
- File all accounts payable supporting documents & retrieve for audits and other review.
- Record and post cash receipts for rent collection.
- Deposit & record cash and checks and maintain proper supporting documentation.
- Work closely with Development department on cash receipts reconciliation.
- Reconcile and replenish petty cash, and process employee reimbursements.
- Initiate and record credit and debit card payments.
- Maintain cost allocations for A/P vendor expenses.
- Process year-end 1099 Forms and distribute to vendors and government entities.
- Maintain lease and rent schedules and maintain all accounts payable contracts.
- Maintain analysis of certain balance sheet accounts.
- Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
- Follow up on action items and collaborate to ensure accurate and timely completion of tasks and projects.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Experience in a non-profit or mission-driven organization.
- Experience with government funders a plus.
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited college.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
