Senior Accountant

LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a Senior Accountant/Accounting Manager to join the Finance & Accounting team in New York City for a financial services firm. This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting professional with strong U.S. GAAP expertise and deep general ledger experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys owning core accounting processes from close through reporting. CPA preferred.

4 days on-site. Reports into CFO.

• Own and support daily accounting operations, including general ledger activities, journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
• Prepare and review monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP
• Play a key role in month-end and year-end close
  , ensuring accuracy and timeliness
• Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations
• Analyze financial results, investigate variances, and provide insights to management
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
• Lead client-facing accounts payable and bookkeeping responsibilities
• Prepare audit schedules and documentation; partner with external auditors
• Maintain organized financial records and documentation
• Deliver ad hoc financial analysis as needed
• Identify and implement process improvements and efficiencies
• Assist with systems implementations and accounting process enhancements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• CPA strongly preferred (CMA or equivalent also considered)
• 5-8+ years of progressive accounting experience
  , ideally within financial services or a complex environment
• Strong U.S. GAAP knowledge and hands-on general ledger ownership
• Experience with accounting/ERP systems such as Quick Books, Net Suite, SAP, or Oracle
• Advanced Excel skills; financial reporting tools a plus
