About the RoleA growing Japanese startup is seeking a versatile Accounting Manager to join during an exciting early‑stage phase. This role offers a unique opportunity to go beyond traditional accounting and play a key role in building the organization’s foundation, with exposure to general affairs and cross‑functional operations.
We are looking for a hands‑on, adaptable professional who is comfortable wearing multiple hats and thrives in a dynamic, evolving environment.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage core accounting functions, including monthly close, financial reporting, and reconciliations
- Prepare and manage financial reporting packages, including consolidation with the parent company
- Support group‑level reporting requirements and ensure timely and accurate submissions
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP and internal policies
- Support financial processes aligned with Japanese regulations (e.g., J‑SOX, TSE disclosure requirements)
- Collaborate with the parent company and align with group‑level accounting and reporting standards
- Assist in building and improving internal processes and controls
- Provide support across general affairs and administrative functions as needed
- Contribute to operational setup and cross‑functional initiatives in a growing organization
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
- Strong accounting knowledge and hands‑on experience (US GAAP required)
- Experience with financial reporting and consolidation is required.
- Experience working in a startup or early‑stage environment is highly preferred
- Business‑level English required;
Japanese language skills are highly preferred but not mandatory - Flexible, proactive mindset with the ability to take on a broad range of responsibilities
- Understanding of Japanese regulatory frameworks (e.g., J‑SOX, disclosure requirements) is a strong plus
- Experience working with Japanese companies or global teams is a plus, but not required
- Open to candidates from any industry (B2C or B2B backgrounds welcome)
