Real Estate Accounting Manager

A leading publicly traded NYC-focused real estate investment platform is seeking a Manager, Multifamily Accounting to oversee accounting and financial reporting across a growing multifamily and affordable housing portfolio. This individual will play a key role in managing property accounting operations, leading a team of accountants, supporting audits and regulatory reporting, and helping scale and enhance accounting processes as the residential platform continues to expand.

• Lead and develop a team of property accountants responsible for multifamily assets
• Oversee monthly close, financial reporting, account reconciliations, accruals, journal entries, and variance analysis
• Partner closely with property management and asset management teams to ensure accurate and timely financial information
• Review operating expense allocations, utility accruals, security deposit activity, and financial support schedules
• Support annual audits, budgets, regulatory filings, and affordable housing reporting requirements
• Drive process improvements, standardization efforts, and internal control enhancements across the portfolio
• Assist with accounting integration and onboarding of newly acquired residential assets
• Support special projects, acquisitions, and other strategic initiatives

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• 6+ years of multifamily property accounting experience required
• 3+ years of management or supervisory experience
• Strong knowledge of affordable housing and residential real estate accounting
• Experience with Yardi or comparable property accounting systems preferred
• CPA or CMA preferred
• Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills
