Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounting Manager to serve as the operational backbone of our accounting function. This role sits between hands‑on execution and strategic oversight—you will both roll up your sleeves on core accounting tasks and take ownership of the close process, internal controls, and team coordination. The ideal candidate has a solid foundation in general accounting, experience in digital media or a fast‑paced environment, and is ready to grow into a Controller‑level role.

A CPA license (active or in progress) is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own and manage the full monthly close process for different entities, including preparation and review of journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Oversee all core accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Review and analyze talent and creator contracts; review revenue share and participation statements and ensure proper revenue recognition.
  • Manage and coordinate staff accountants and, at times, senior accountants on day‑to‑day AP, AR, and reconciliation functions.
  • Work cross‑functionally with sales, production, operations, and legal teams to ensure accurate accounting for diverse revenue streams (e.g., sponsor ships, licensing, media sales).
  • Review sales commission statements and support commissions reporting.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Support external audits and coordinate with tax advisors, shared services, and technical accounting teams.
  • Support systems implementations and process improvement initiatives.
  • Provide ad hoc analysis and reporting as needed by leadership.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA license active or actively in progress (strongly preferred).
  • 5‑7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 1‑2 years in a supervisory or lead capacity.
  • Experience managing or coordinating outsourced or in‑house accounting staff.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, including revenue recognition principles.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment and manage competing priorities effectively.
Nice to Have
  • Experience in digital media, entertainment, or a high‑growth startup environment.
  • Familiarity with talent/creator contract structures and media revenue models.
  • Exposure to financial audits and tax compliance processes.
  • Involvement in ERP or accounting systems implementations.
  • Experience working within a portfolio company or subsidiary of a larger organization.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role is $92,000.00–$ annually, with the final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical, dental, vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents.
