Vice President - Accounting Policy

HWThree is partnered with a leading financial services organization, that is seeking a Vice President, Accounting Policy to join their team. The successful applicant will serve as a trusted advisor on complex accounting matters, and will be responsible for interpreting and applying accounting guidance, supporting significant transactions, implementing new accounting standards, and partnering with business and finance leadership across the organization.

The position offers substantial exposure to senior finance executives and provides an opportunity to influence key accounting, reporting, and control initiatives across a dynamic global platform.

• Research and analyze complex technical accounting issues across multiple business lines.
• Provide guidance on topics including revenue recognition, consolidations, financial instruments, securitizations, and equity method accounting.
• Prepare technical accounting memoranda supporting accounting conclusions and recommendations.
• Assist with the implementation and adoption of new accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
• Partner with Finance, Treasury, Risk Management, and business stakeholders to evaluate accounting implications of transactions and business initiatives.
• Support the preparation of financial statement disclosures and related footnotes.
• Monitor emerging accounting developments and assess potential impacts to the organization.
• Collaborate with internal and external auditors on accounting matters and reporting requirements.
• Contribute to the enhancement of accounting processes, controls, and governance frameworks.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum 5+ years of relevant accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and technical accounting research.
• Experience interpreting and applying complex accounting guidance.
• Solid understanding of financial statements and disclosure requirements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across multiple functions.

• Background in financial services, banking, capital markets, asset management, or a related industry.
• Experience supporting accounting policy, technical accounting, financial reporting, or controllership functions.

The successful candidate combines deep technical accounting expertise with strong business judgment and execution skills. They are comfortable navigating complex issues, influencing stakeholders across the organization, and delivering practical accounting solutions in a fast-paced environment.
