Senior Accountant (Temp-to-Perm) | New York, NY

Ascendo Resources is partnering with a well-established nonprofit organization in New York City seeking a Senior Accountant to join its growing finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys mission‑driven work and wants exposure to a collaborative, stable environment.

• Pay Rate: $45/hr - $50/hr
• Conversion salary: Up to $100,000
• Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM (35-hour workweek). Fully onsite during temp period. 1 day WFH once converted to perm
• Reports To: CFO
• Software: Sage Intacct environment
• Collaborative accounting team of 8 professionals

• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities
• Assist with financial reporting and general ledger maintenance
• Analyze financial data and identify discrepancies
• Support budgeting, audits, and compliance requirements
• Collaborate with leadership on special projects and process improvements
• Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial records

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5+ years of accounting experience
• Nonprofit accounting experience required
• Strong Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and data analysis
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
