Overview
- Lead accounting operations for a diverse property portfolio, ensuring financial accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
- Coordinate property onboarding processes, including financial data reconciliation and vendor account transitions.
- Oversee monthly close procedures, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to enhance accounting workflows and controls.
- Support integration of acquisitions and portfolio transitions into accounting systems.
- Develop and maintain standardized onboarding checklists and workflows for new properties.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior accounting staff and external teams.
- Drive process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and accuracy.
- Review and analyze financial statements, AP/AR, and bank reconciliations for accuracy.
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes across multiple entities.
- Coordinate audit and tax support with external accountants and advisors.
- Prepare and review owner/investor reporting packages for completeness and accuracy.
- Lead accounting onboarding for newly acquired or transitioned properties.
- Standardize reporting templates and improve monthly close timelines.
- Act as a key user of property accounting systems and reporting tools.
- Ensure financial data integrity for acquisitions, refinancings, and audits.
- Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Accounting or related field.
- 5–8+ years of accounting experience, preferably within property management or real estate operations.
- Proficiency in Yardi Voyager or similar property‑accounting systems is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of accrual accounting and property‑level financial statements.
- Experience with onboarding or transitioning properties is highly desirable.
- CPA certification or CPA track is preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and comfort with large datasets.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
