Sr. Accountant

Description

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support core accounting operations for a manufacturing environment in Bohemia, New York. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, guiding period-end activities, and ensuring account balances are properly supported. The ideal candidate brings strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, inventory-related financial processes, and advanced spreadsheet capabilities.

Responsibilities:

- Lead monthly close activities by preparing entries, reviewing balances, and helping deliver timely financial results.

- Maintain the general ledger and ensure accounting records are complete, organized, and aligned with reporting requirements.

- Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate support and clear documentation.

- Perform reconciliations for balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies through detailed analysis.

- Complete bank reconciliations and investigate variances to confirm cash activity is accurately recorded.

- Partner with operations and finance teams to account for inventory activity within a manufacturing setting.

- Analyze accounting data in Excel to identify trends, support reporting, and improve accuracy.

- Assist with ERP-related accounting tasks, including work connected to Epicor processes when needed.

Requirements - Demonstrated experience in a senior-level accounting role.

- Strong background in month-end close and general ledger management.

- Hands-on experience preparing journal entries and supporting account analysis.

- Proven ability to perform account reconciliations and bank reconciliations accurately.

- Familiarity with inventory accounting in a manufacturing environment.

- Experience working with Epicor or a comparable ERP platform.

- Proficiency in Excel for analysis, reconciliation, and reporting.
